“Remember when eco-friendly shopping was the only way you could think of shopping differently?” asks Olivia Wilde. Thanks to companies like Conscious Commerce—a collaboration between Wilde and her best friend/business partner, Barbara (Babs) Burchfield—the options are now greater than ever. The company has helped develop products (Alternative Apparel’s Message bag benefiting Haitian students), partnered with do-gooder companies (“give back” salon Detroit Blows), and advised blue-chip brands on mindful business practices (H&M’s eco Conscious Exclusive collection). “We are a family, the two of us,” says Wilde, also the mother of two—Otis, three, and Daisy, one—with her partner, actor Jason Sudeikis.
