Farewell beautiful Paco

Olivia’s beautiful pup Paco passed away one day ago and it hit us, not only because we have a doggie as well and love dogs and animals in general but also because Olivia talked about him being a cool doggie ever since he was a puppy when we became her fans years ago. We sort of always knew he was there by her side and that he was her best buddy… who was so special and charming that he even modeled for Old Navy. The pain of losing a loved one is indescribable and we can only hope she will focus on the positive things he has brought to this world. Keep on being your awesome self Paco, wherever you are.

Lost my best friend last night. Paco was a kind, wise, gentle, loving soul. I could post a thousand photos of so many adventures. These pics remind me of how peaceful he made me. My heart feels broken right now. All I can ask is that you consider adopting a pup, and loving them with all you’ve got. Here’s to all the incredible friends of Paco who’ve been so kind to him over the years. I am forever grateful.

Olivia’s Directorial Debut ‘Booksmart’

Olivia Wilde is setting her directorial debut “Booksmart” with Annapurna Pictures and cast Kaitlyn Dever and Beanie Feldstein to star.

The pic is being produced by Annapurna and Gloria Sanchez, the female-focused production banner wing of Gary Sanchez Productions. Chelsea Barnard, David Distenfeld, and Megan Ellison are producing for Annapurna and Jessica Elbaum, Will Ferrell, and Adam McKay are producing for Gloria Sanchez.

The story follows Dever and Feldstein’s characters, who, on the eve of their high school graduation, two academic superstars and best friends suddenly realize that they should have worked less and played more. Determined never to fall short of their peers, the girls set out on a mission to cram four years of fun into one night.

The original script is by Emily Halpern and Sarah Haskins, with initial revisions by Susanna Fogel, and current revisions by Katie Silberman. “Booksmart,” with female stars, writers, and director, fits in well with Elbaum’s original goal when she first came up with the idea for Gloria Sanchez: to give more opportunities to women in the industry.

Wilde’s film credits include “Meadowland,” which she also produced; “Her”; and “Rush.” She also executive produced a slew of short documentaries, including Oscar-nominated “Body Team 12.” On the directing side, she has helmed music videos for Red Hot Chili Peppers and Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros. She will next be seen in “A Vigilante,” premiering at SXSW, and Dan Fogelman’s “Life Itself.” She is repped by WME, Untitled, and Ziffren Brittenham, LLP.

Dever can be seen next in Lynn Shelton’s “Outside In,” which will bow this spring by the Orchard and Netflix, and “Beautiful Boy,” which opens Oct. 12. She also has credits for writing and performing an original song in Jason Reitman’s upcoming film “Tully.” She is repped by UTA and Felker Toczek.

Feldstein had her breakout role in the Universal comedy “Neighbors 2: Sorority Rising” and followed that up as Saoirse Ronan’s friend in “Lady Bird.” She is repped by WME and Brillstein.

Olivia on the Politics of ‘Natural’ Beauty

Both of Olivia Wilde’s parents were Washington, D.C., journalists, so it should be no surprise that the actress is passionate about her politics, even when it comes to the politics of “natural” beauty. After being the face of Revlon, Wilde’s newest gig is being chief brand activist for True Botanicals, a “natural” beauty line that Unilever acquired a minority stake in last month. The Cut talked to Wilde and Christina Mace-Turner and Hillary Peterson, True Botanicals’ co-founders, about how politics affects “natural” beauty regulation, its surprising clinical results compared to La Mer, and the “shit” she got about her #NoMelaniaHair hashtag.

So you were with Revlon for many years and now you’re the chief brand activist of True Botanicals. How did that happen?

OW: I’m very proud of that title. It means my partnership goes beyond just being the face, in being a partner and telling the story in different creative ways. I’m looking forward to helping consumers understand not only the products themselves and the experience in using them, but how they’re made, the supply chain, the ingredients, down to the packaging. If you’re the face of the brand, it’s not really even asked of you. They don’t expect you to have an interest in any of those things. It’s an entirely different experience.

With Revlon, it wasn’t jumping ship from one to the other. My relationship with Revlon ended in an organic, peaceful way. It was a fascinating experience to be part of a large brand. I learned a lot about the beauty industry through it. There was that space in between where I thought, I don’t know if I will do anything like that again. I was even interested in creating something myself. I thought I was going to have to create a True Botanicals.

Olivia to Make Broadway Debut in ‘1984’

NEW YORK — A new stage adaptation of George Orwell’s chilling dystopic novel 1984 will star Olivia Wilde, making her Broadway debut. Producers Sonia Friedman and Scott Rudin said Monday that the play will also star Tom Sturridge and Tony Award-winner Reed Birney. It will begin performances in May at the Hudson Theatre. First published in 1949, Orwell’s classic tale of a society run by Big Brother in which facts are distorted and suppressed in a cloud of “newspeak” has topped the Amazon.com best-seller lists. Olivia Wilde, who recently wrapped films “A Vigilante” and “Life Itself” opposite Oscar Isaac, will play Julia, the woman with whom the dystopian tale’s protagonist, Winston Smith, begins an affair. Reed Birney will play the spy O’Brien. The play arrives in New York after winning acclaim in four different runs in the U.K. (including one on the West End), and after the George Orwell title itself suddenly became a hot topic in the wake of the presidential election. Robert Icke and Duncan Macmillan co-adapt and co-direct the production, which on Broadway will also star Wayne Duvall, Carl Hendrick Louis, Nick Mills, Michael Potts, and Cara Seymour.

Olivia To Star In Emmett/Furla’s ‘A Vigilante’

EXCLUSIVE: Olivia Wilde will star in A Vigilante, a drama scripted and directed by Sarah Daggar Nickson that Emmett/Furla/Oasis has green lit for a February production start. Wilde  plays The Woman, a secretive figure who rids victims of their domestic abusers. EFO’s Randall Emmett and George Furla are producing with Andrew D. Corkin of Uncorked productions and Lars Knudsen of Parts & Labor, and Ambyr Childers of Badlands Entertainment.

This marks the second collaboration between those producers, after Jan Kwiecinski’s The Incident. Wayne Marc Godfrey of The Fyzz Facility, Uncorked’s Bryan Reisberg, and Parts and Labor’s Jay Van Hoy will serve as executive producers. Tony Callie and Tim Sullivan will co-produce. WME repped Wilde, Nickson and Emmett/Furla, while Corkin and Knudsen are repped by André Des Rochers of Gray Krauss Stratford. Childers is repped by Luber Roklin Entertainment and UTA.

EFO has the Martin Scorsese-directed Silence coming December 23, Amityville: The Awakening coming January 6, and just wrapped the John Travolta-starrer Gotti from director Kevin Connolly.
